Powerful California snowstorm closes roads and ski resorts as heavy snow and high winds lash mountains



Blizzard conditions continued to hit Northern California over the weekend with damaging winds and heavy snow dumping on mountaintops in the Valley.


The most extreme conditions are unfolding at the mountain's highest elevations, with whiteout conditions and hurricane-force winds.


A winter storm warning remains in place across most of the western states, with a blizzard warning still in effect for the northern and central Sierra Nevada through Monday morning, where up to 1 foot of snow and gusts of 45-75 mph are possible.
